Current Challenge

  •  Hello everyone.  Von Marie here and I’m so excited for this weeks challenge. This week it’s Poolside Yay!!  There is also a fun Card sketch and and color inspiration. Make a project either inspired by the theme, sketch, or colors. You have less then a week to upload. New Challenge starts every Thursday and Winners announced on Sundays.

    Let’s Get Started:

I was inspired by the theme Poolside.  I had a few different ideas but when I seen this ephemera in my stash from Simple Stories called Sunkissed, I thought it was perfect and easy for this weeks challenge.  I also used some Lawn Fawn Pattern Paper and used it with this fun EZ Wonder Die #3 from the Not 2 Shabby Shop.

I took my craft knife and made a slit in the floatie so I could slip the drink in there. Gotta stay hydrated let’s hope there is caffeine in there. LOL. Oh and can’t forget your SPF 50. I had so much fun making this card. All was glued with liquid glue to a side folding A2 card base 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

Now It’s Your Turn! Upload to the Thursday Post on the Blog. Also share in our FB Group!

  • “POOLSIDE” is this week’s Inspired By theme – how fun is that? I used two MFT Stamp sets to create a couple of birthday cards for some upcoming little boy birthdays.

The first scene is a group of party animals having some summer fun around the pool. This set is called Swimming Hole Friends.

My second card is a sweet scene with this little follow enjoying his toy boats while he relaxes in his floaty. Mr. Crab and Mr. Seagull decided to join the fun. This set is called You Keep Me Afloat.

Everything was achieved with stamping, die cutting, copic coloring, stenciling, embossing, and some fun colored paper accents.

What a great opportunity for you to pull out your summer themed craft supplies and join us this week. We can’t wait to see what you create! ~MarDi

So much to love about this! The details and that vellum is perfect!

Don’t forget to play along this week

  • Summer is in full swing and one of the best places to be is poolside! This week’s inspiration photo is perfectly summer so I made a card inspired by the pool and my favorite summer accessory…the inner tube (with a good book and an iced latte or Frappuccino, too)! 😂

I made a shaker card with iridescent sequins, Papertrey Ink’s “Floating By” stamps and dies, and a cute sun hat from their “Build-a-Suitcase” die set. The amazing patterned paper is from Echo Park’s “Sun-Kissed” collection. I hope you are keeping cool this summer!

  • Summer is the perfect excuse to pull out the brightest papers in your stash and this week’s challenge made that easy. The cheerful poolside inspiration had me reaching for turquoise, hot pink and a sunny yellow to create this playful shaped card.

Let us know what you are creating this week! We would love to take a peek!

  • Hey everyone, Laurel here sharing my take on this week’s challenge. I was inspired by the summer vibes, the floaties and the theme of swimming.

Aren’t these two gals fun?! It is a new stamp from Unity called Cabana Critics (and it is on sale right now). I had fun coloring them with copics. I then fussy cut them out and mounted on foam squares. The wavy die in the background is an old MFT one. I had it cut and ready as I made it for another project and didn’t use it. I have a little plastic folder where I keep die cuts I decide not to use just in case they come in handy…. and this one did.

The paper is an old CTMH collection and it worked perfectly for these gals don’t you think?

Now I can’t wait to see how you are inspired. Don’t forget to share it in our Facebook group too!

  •  Hello everyone.  Von Marie here and I’m so happy to be on the blog today. We have a New Inspired By… #IB395 Challenge and the theme this week is Cookies and A New Card Sketch and Inspiration Colors.

    Let’s Get Started:

I was inspired by the colors, Sea Theme, and Card Sketch. I first started ink blending my white cardstock with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink, Catherine Pooler All That Jazz ink, and Concord & 9th Sea Glass ink for the blue inks on my card. I ink blended Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink for my brown ink blending on my pattern paper and on my squares. I cut my squares and rectangles using my scraps looking at the card sketch so fun.

Next, I stamped and heat embossed my Sea horse, Jellyfish, and air bubbles using Lawn Fawn and Forever in Time stamp sets with Versamark and White embossing powder. I embossed the Whimsy Stamps Ocean Stencil for the fish. I then cut out a starfish and shell from Emily Moore Designs Charm Set Sizzling Summer with white cardstock.  Pattern Paper and word sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp. I had so much making this card.

  • This week’s Inspired By challenge is so unique. Have you ever seen such beautifully decorated ocean themed cookies? They are too pretty to eat! I took inspiration from the lovely scenes in the collage of cookies.

It’s been a while since I’ve used my Waffle Flower Postage Collage Die and it was really fun to play with it again. I carefully masked off each section and inked them up with various shades of blue greens. The top portion was a little trickier since it required multiple masking steps, but I just used torn post-it-notes to create the beach scene.

Next, I stamped images from a very old Hero Arts Club kit filled with sea creatures and the fun sentiment. I think this set must be about 12 years old but I reach for it often. Some of the images are simply ink stamped and others are embossed with white powder to mimic the frosting on the cookies.

The final touch was the addition of this magnificent whale from a past Spellbinders club kit called Whale in a Bottle. I love this whale.

For me, it’s always a bonus when a I can design a beautiful masculine card. They typically challenge me.

I love how these challenges bring out creativity that you didn’t even know existed within you. We hope that you are inspired by something in this week’s challenge prompt. We are eager to see what you create. ~MarDi

  • Listening to the birds singing now as I write this 🐦 🎶

This is such a simple but cute card! Love the little bird and how the colours from the inspiration were used! Congratulations Christy!
